Large by sculling standards the GMH (Green Mountain Head) is known for its small town charm. The event is a 3.0 mile stake race for singles and doubles. It annually attracts about 300 participants. Racers range in age from 10 to 80 years with a range of racing experience. Many elite scullers enter to prepare for the other major head races in the area. It is held in the fall when the foliage is starting to turn. In 2011 the race celebrated its 30th Anniversary.
